Royal Caribbean: Cruising To The Future

Captain Jessica will see you now and I am BEYOND excited to tell you all about my past week at Royal Caribbean’s Sea Beyond Event that took place at the Brooklyn Duggal Greenhouse.

The entire event was a sneak peek dedicated to showcase all of Royal Caribbean’s new technologies and innovations that are all aboard future Royal, Celebrity, and Azamara ships.

Sea-sing the day, one of the first new innovations that I enjoyed was being picked up at port by an autonomous shuttle! Diving into a world of being driverless, the product is currently being tested and was an exciting introduction to the event.

Royal Caribbean announced their new app that helps make sure your vacation begins the moment you journey to the cruise ship!

The app is for use from customers at home, in order to book the cruise, at the port, and on board the ship. This promises to make check-in a breeze (sea what I did there), as well as signing up for shore excursions, making onboard massages and ordering drinks to be delivered to your current or next stop on the ship!

One of my FAVORITE app abilities was that it allowed me to order my drink for delivery. My adult beverage found me through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and my profile photo, which I took once I downloaded the app. This customization was incredible and made me feel so special while enjoying everything else #RCLSeaBeyond had to offer.

On top of the app, Royal Caribbean shipped us out to sea when showcasing their new stateroom of the future. Immersing me in the ability to escape cabin fever, Royal Caribbean showed off this stateroom concept where you’re surrounded by 4K animated displays that simulate the feeling of being outside.

Saving the very best for last and the most unique experience that I have ever participated in, #RCLSeaBeyond gave me good dose of Vitamin Sea and a Virtual Reality food experience.

Taking us through a Japanese Tea Room, we ventured through an experience that I would have never had anywhere else, plus I got to eat yummy food! I absolutely LOVED this and as a techie, this was my first foray into tech and food. Oh, and if you're wondering about the menu items, I had crispy tuna and chocolate truffle covered in pop rocks. Would you try VR dining?

It is only fitting that technology and travel are now being applied to cruising, and it was clear to see Royal Caribbean is all about this at the #RCLSeaBeyond event. Until next time, Sea You Soon NYC, and thanks for the sneak peek Royal Caribbean!
