Uber wants to drive you, feed you, and now, potentially save you. The company that helps you avoid being a sweaty sardine packed into the subway had a big event in San Francisco yesterday, announcing a slew of new updates and features, including the ability for riders to text 911 from within the Uber app. The safety toolkit also pre-fills a message with the car’s license plate, the destination, and the exact current location of the vehicle. Other announcements include Uber launching an Eats Pass for those of us who order in every day (offering unlimited free deliveries), an allergy-friendly filter when searching for food, and 5,100 virtual kitchens that sell meals solely for Uber Eats delivery (with Rachel Ray getting her own!).
