Skagen Jorn Hybrid HR Review
If you know me, you know I’m always looking for fashion forward and functionable tech that doesn’t look like tech. Also, something that isn’t too cheugy, you know??
Enter, the Jorn Hybrid HR smartwatch from Skagen. This watch is fashionable, functional and it’s a hybrid smartwatch. This Skagen watch looks like a traditional watch, but functions like a smartwatch.
Skagen’s Hybrid HR smartwatches bridge the gap between a full touchscreen smartwatch and a traditional watch, being smaller, thinner, and designed like a normal watch and not a piece of technology. And instead of a touchscreen face, these smartwatches use the minute and hour hands to alert you to your phone notifications.
I have been reviewing this Hybrid HR smartwatch for about a month now and personally love the hybrid style because it’s discreet. At first glance it doesn’t scream smartwatch, but I can still get pinged when I’m getting a call or a text.
Design
The Skagen Jorn Hybrid HR smartwatch is one of the prettiest smartwatches I've ever worn.
The watch combines the aesthetics of an analog watch with the functionality and ‘smarts’ of a connected device. It's the best of both worlds. It has a stainless steel finish and I went for the Rose Gold, and love that it matches with my aesthetic and all my jewelry including my wedding ring.
This watch also comes in mens and my husband went for the 42mm with Gray Steel Mesh.
I love how it goes away from the ugly rubber band look and that the watch is not too thick or heavy. Extra that my arm hairs don't get stuck.
Notifications
The built- in e-ink display is completely customizable. I set mine up so it shows me the weather, my heart-rate and my steps throughout the day - so I know when I’m slacking off. I can also view notifications and messages from native and third party apps, track activity and monitor sleep, monitor heart rate and control my music.
There is also a new dashboard to see all my tracking and stats in one place with improved analytics. Additionally, I love that I can track my sleep tracking, and that there is auto workout detection and workout route checking (tethered GPS). 2021 has been a challenging year for many so since we only have just under 6 months left of the year… I'm able to set some new goals like a daily step count and also less time on my phone. Even when I’m at the gym I’m on my phone. So it’s nice to leave my phone in my gym bag when I go to the gym and any important texts or phone calls will come through my Jorn Hybrid HR smartwatch. That means less screen time and more focus on my health goals.
I like that the display is easily seen in bright settings, and in dim settings, the 4 LEDs make it easy to see the display and watch hands. When the LEDs are off, the watch hands are also visible thanks to the glow-in-the-dark finish on these hands.
Battery Life
I need to talk about battery life because I'm that person who always forgets to charge overnight and it’s not a secret that smartwatches usually have a limited battery life. But not this one. Because it doesn't have an LCD or OLED to drain it, the battery lasts for over 2 weeks on a single battery charge.
The box includes a fast charger that takes a little over an hour to fully recharge.

Very stylish. Nice to see there’s a stylish smartwatch alternative, without a plastic band, that’s reasonably priced.

Con
The app is a little slow and confusing to understand at first. If you're familiar with hybrid smartwatches at all, then you know that functionality is a blend of doing things on the watch and within a companion app, so this is something I hope can improve over time with app updates.
I can easily see my Jorn Hybird HR smartwatch replacing my other smartwatches. From the office to gym or out to dinner; the Skagen’s Hybrid HR smartwatches are perfect to wear throughout the day and night.
