A new travel buddy: Google Maps

You will no longer have to endure the amused grin of the taxi driver the next time you visit a foreign country. Google Maps will soon be helping travelers around the world save face by speaking the name or address of a location in that country’s native language, instead of having you butcher it so badly that three attempts are required before a semblance of comprehension descends. According to Google, the new feature will roll out this month via the app, supporting languages like Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and fifty others. So the next time you see a street name with no vowels, you won’t need to get creative with your pronunciation.
