What is Emergency Bypass on your iPhone?
Emergency Bypass is a feature on the iPhone that allows you to receive calls and messages from specific contacts even when your phone is set to Do Not Disturb or Silent mode. By customizing Emergency Bypass settings, you can maintain peace and quiet while staying connected to the people who matter most. When the phone is on Do Not Disturb mode you can set it so when particular contacts call or text you your phone will still notify you. So if your babysitter, wife or Mom calls, they’ll come through. This can be particularly useful if you want to make sure that important calls or messages from certain people always get through, no matter the time or situation.
How to Enable Emergency Bypass on Your iPhone
For Phone Calls:
Open the Contacts app on your iPhone.
Select the contact for whom you want to enable Emergency Bypass.
Tap Edit in the upper right corner.
Scroll down and tap Ringtone.
Toggle the Emergency Bypass switch to on (it will turn green).
Tap Done to save your changes.
For Messages:
Open the Contacts app on your iPhone.
Select the contact for whom you want to enable Emergency Bypass.
Tap Edit in the upper right corner.
Scroll down and tap Text Tone.
Toggle the Emergency Bypass switch to on (it will turn green).
Tap Done to save your changes.
Once enabled, calls and/or messages from the selected contact will bypass Do Not Disturb and Silent mode, ensuring that you receive them no matter what.
