I want to thank Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany for sponsoring this coverage of the best of CES tech.

Pop quiz: Did you know that nearly every device near you has products from EMDGroup, including LCD, OLEDs, semiconductors and pigments? Yes, their materials are present in almost all of the devices you see around you today and at CES. Merck KGaA (https://www.emdgroup.com/en), Darmstadt, Germany, known as EMD Performance Materials in the US and Canada, enables the technology that makes your phone displays crisp and bright - for both LC and OLED. This year at CES 2020, the 351-year old science and technology company hosted a series of panels with experts who showed us what your next display might look like! The company is at the forefront of digital innovation and influencing how we tackle major illness, and integral to the objects we rely on.

The future of displays

From the TV you watched last night, to your smartphone you’re using to read this article, you likely have experienced Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany’s performance materials. But what exactly does the future hold for displays?  Bendable, stretchable, rollable, wearable or bezel-less.

I had a chance to speak with Gottfried Wastlbauer, Head of Global Marketing for Displays Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. It's safe to say that are foldables are the future of laptops and PCs and we will be seeing a lot more screen space, according to Gottfried Wastlbauer, Head of Global Marketing for Displays Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. The next-future of display technology is exciting! Free-form displays will enhance user experience of all your devices. Merck has been driving the foldable revolution by enhancing OLED (organic light emitting diode) technology and the technologies behind the screen itself.

The company continues to revolutionize liquid crystal technology, giving an immersive experience watching your television without the distraction of a bulky frame around the screen. Their UBplus (ultra-brightness plus) technology enhances the light transmission in high-resolution TVs and their UB-FFS (ultra-brightness fringe field switching) technology helps enhance the brightness and the viewing angles as well as extending the battery life of your portable devices.

This is all very cool technology, I am looking forward to learning more about what this  company is working on.
