Zoom: Do's and Dont's

Millions of Americans are now using Zoom. SO much so, that the popularity of Zoom has created a new problem: Video conference bombers, aka zoombombing. People are zoombombing  other people’s chats and blurting racist and offensive slurs.

Here’s how to make sure this wont happen to you:

Create a password and share the meeting information only with the participants you want to attend. Make sure you don’t post it publicly or share it with others.

Enable the “waiting room” feature that requires your invited guests to wait for your approval before jumping on the video call.

A few other things to note for all video chats going forward:

Do: Turn off your microphone

Do: Turn off your camera when you’re not talking. One woman named Jennifer was on a Zoom call with her colleagues when she needed to go to the bathroom. Jennifer left her camera on and participants saw her pull her pants down and squat on the toilet. 😱😱😱😱Don’t let this be you.

Do: Use filters and virtual backgrounds ,especially if you have messy room, or even if you want to have fun. There are  some fun and customizable backdrops. Just note that they looks pixelated and can affect your connectivity.
