Gmail has your back

Gmail wants to help limit the number of emails you get from co-workers while you’re on a well-deserved vacation. The email tool is rolling out a new update for G Suite that will tell co-workers you’re OOO before they press send.

The alert will come in the form of a yellow banner hovering over the "Send" button, alerting the sender that you’re out and when you’ll return. Only co-workers who have been given access to your calendar will be able to see the alert, ensuring spam sales bots won’t bombard you the second you settle in from that long weekend getaway. Those on G Suite can start using this shiny new feature on September 16th, just in time for apple-picking season (or “sick season” as far as your boss is concerned).
