Amazon, fashion of the future

“Alexa, give me a fierce look today.” Amazon is coming for Stitch Fix with a new service for Prime members dubbed “Personal Shopper by Prime Wardrobe.” The styling tool is designed to help you build a better closet, by having a team pull looks for you based on your fit and trend preferences.

Customers get direct access to their stylist through the Amazon app, and receive up to eight pieces in their monthly box. After receiving the new looks, users have seven days to try on the styles, and only pay for what they keep. But unlike getting paper towels in two days using Prime’s perks, there’s an added fee for Amazon to curate your closet. Personal Shopper is $4.99/month for Prime members, and features brands such as Stuart Weitzman, Theory, Levi’s, and thousands more. Speaking of the future of fashion, a new clothing rental company by URBN (aka Free People, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie) wants to help you temporarily fill your closet with some new gems.

The service, called Nuuly, lets customers rent up to six items of clothing from the company’s brands, as well as 1,000 third-party designers, for $88/month. Other participating designers you can add to your box include LoveShackFancy, For Love and Lemons, and even unique vintage pieces from YSL and Loewe, that you can keep for up to a month. We hope our closets don't get too attached.
