Review: How Good Science Beauty skincare rescued my skin
Pregnancy came with both the beautiful and not-so-beautiful things i.e. stretch marks, swollen feet, skin flakier than the Sahara. Even with moisturizer, my face has been fighting back over the 9 months.
As I was doing my research to find the quickest, most effective solution to rescue my skincare routine, I stumbled upon Good Science Beauty, a new skincare company that uses technology to create products with Good Silicon+ (not to be confused with silicone, a synthetic material used to give that extra lift, if you know what I mean). You know I am all about tech so when it comes to technology backed skincare— I was curious!
What makes silicon so good?
Did you know? Silicon is the second most abundant element in the earth’s crust after oxygen. It’s usually found in most kinds of foods and drinks, but beyond that, it also does wonders for your skin (mine included).
It’s specifically designed to deliver all kinds of ideal ingredients to your skin. Good Silicon is structured like a honeycomb. It has small containers that act as small compartments that is filled with different skincare ingredients, depending on what your skin needs.
The golden rule in chemistry is that opposites attract, and Good Silicon+ is developed with a positive charge to attract your skin’s natural negative charge. Sign me up!
Some of my favorites from their product line
003 Hydrating Cream
My skin went through all sorts of battles during pregnancy, but going through the Sahara desert probably had the most turmoil. My skin was dry and flaky to the point that some parts of my face were painful when I smiled. Ok I am exaggerating, it made me look so cakey anytime I put on makeup. 003 Hydrating Cream helped bring back nourishment and moisture to my dry AF skin. Good Silicon+ carried Hyaluronic Acid to increase the deep hydration that I lacked during pregnancy. It locks it in with Marina Omega-3 that acts as barriers that keep the Good Silicon+ absorbed by my skin.
004 Brightening Cream
After weeks of using the 004 Brightening Cream, I often got remarks like “you’re glowing! Pregnancy is doing you wonders!” or even “You don’t even look tired!” (which is totally not the case). I was able to mask the dark under eye circles and lack of sleep instantaneously just by the help of this product. Glutathione, a major antioxidant, and Melatonin (yes, sleeping aid) were combined in Good Silicon+ to even out and my skin tone and brighten my skin in a safe and effective way. Even if I wasn’t getting enough sleep, I looked like well rested as Sleeping Beauty just by using this brightening cream.
005 Firming Cream
While working in media, HD makeup became my best friend, but right after I left to build TechSesh, my skin became very dependent on makeup to keep me young-looking. I may not pass as someone under 30, but I sure can keep it that way for a long time. 005 Firming Cream became my fountain of youth during my pregnancy. Good Silicon+ delivers barley extract, rich in selenium to improve elasticity. It helped reduce fine lines and wrinkles and left me with smoother, younger-looking skin.
001 Purifying Cream
LA has been my home since I can remember, but what most people associate it with is the pollution that comes from the traffic and smoke-belching vehicles on the 405 freeway. City livin’ had its pros from the productive lifestyle down to the rich and diverse culture, but I definitely earned blemishes aggravated by city living. Good Silicon+ combines Will Bark from Amino Acids to purify and moisturize my face simultaneously. This helps combat the skin-damaging effects of pollution and reduces oiliness and appearance of blemishes. My skin finally had the chance to breathe from all the LA pollution and dust.
Results
Skincare is not being deflected, but rather absorbed and soaked easily into your skin. Your skin only absorbs what is good for it and it’s good at keeping foreign objects out, Good Silicon+ works because it already uses elements that are found in your body, encouraging healthy skin and collagen production.
Verdict
Overall, Good Science Beauty delivered what it was meant to do. It was efficient, long-lasting, and good for me. They didn’t have to reinvent the skincare wheel because it revitalized my skin using products that were already familiar to my body and just utilized technology to make it better. After a few weeks of using it, I’ve felt a huge difference in my skin in terms of health and moisture. I am able to wear my skin confidently outdoors without makeup or the fear of getting blemishes. I have gotten a ton of compliments from friends and family of my pregnancy glow when in reality, Good Silicon+ brought out the beauty in this soon-to-be momma.
