Would You Pay $269 for a Gua Sha?

A $269 Gua Sha sounds wild. But ORA Method isn't just some brand, it's an acupuncture studio in NYC, and they made an LED Gua Sha. I went in, got the facial done by their team, and I have thoughts.

Traditional gua sha is just a stone. This has red light, infrared, and vibration built in. The reason that matters is penetration, light therapy needs to actually reach the tissue to do anything, and combining it with the physical scraping motion helps it get there. One press activates everything, sessions are 10 minutes, and you have to use a gel not oil, because oil blocks the light.

They scrape it across your face the traditional gua sha way, but the light is doing extra work underneath, from boosting collagen, calming inflammation, moving fluid.

Red light works on the surface: collagen, skin tone, brightness. Infrared goes deeper: inflammation, circulation, tissue repair.

You can use it on your face, neck and scalp. Each edge of the device is intentionally designed for specific areas. The U-shaped edge is for jawline sculpting and contouring. The flat edge is for smoothing fine lines and releasing tension The comb edge is for muscle release and scalp stimulation and the pointed edge is for acupressure points and deeper tension relief.

You can go into the Ora Method’s NYC locations to receive the 50-minute LED Gua Sha facial for $250, or you can purchase the device itself for $269. They recommend using it 10 minutes daily for best results.

But even after one use, my jaw was less tense, my face was less puffy, and my skin looked better walking out than walking in. Was it the light? The massage? Just laying down for 10 minutes? Probably all of it.
