From Burberry to Louis Vuitton and beyond: Why gaming is the next big thing in high fashion

Game nerds, meet luxury: The new face of fashion might be your S.O. and his Twitch friends—yes, really... Louis Vuitton just debuted its new collaboration with League of Legends (a popular game full of wizards, dragons etc.)

As part of the project, LV’s Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière will design a “skin” for League of Legends’ characters in 2020. (So yes, your S.O.’s avatar will have cooler clothes than you.) Pieces in the capsule—which are currently available for pre-order—include a $5,650 leather biker jacket, a $670 T-shirt, and a $2,420 zip-up hoodie. (Sadly, we’re guessing your local LV boutique won’t accept extra lives in lieu of cash.) And fashion’s invasion into existing games is just the start. Sarah Owen, senior insight editor at the trend forecasting firm WGSN, has been tracking the evolution of gaming style and believes these partnerships signal a new era of product integration.
