Gotta Jet

Delta wants to make jet-setting less wallet-emptying. Yesterday, the airline announced a partnership with private jet brand Wheels Up to create the world’s largest fleet of elite planes. While CEO Ed Bastian says the move “will democratize aviation–making the convenience of private jet travel accessible,” we’re not sure the average American can swing the $17k initiation fee for a membership. (Though if you buy it at Costco, you’ll get a $3500 gift card, which is a lot of bulk toilet paper and at least one highly-discounted canoe you’ll never use...)

Then there’s the environmental cost of private jets, which create so many greenhouse gas emissions, Bella Hadid planted 600 trees just to offset her frequent flying. Maybe next time, she can catch a ride with the Chinese panda Bei Bei, who gets his own private plane when he jet-sets. But wait, is bamboo TSA friendly?
